Netflix might be known for its exclusive series, such as The Queen’s Gambit, The Crown, Bridgerton, and Stranger Things, but did you know Netflix also has dozens of Chinese dramas on there?
There is a reason Netflix is arguably the most-watched video streaming platform worldwide, aside from YouTube. It’s because they have tons of content to choose from!
This blog post will break down the best Chinese dramas on Netflix so you don’t have to scour the platform to find the ones worth watching.
Let’s get started!
Best Chinese Dramas on Netflix – Historical
With beautiful CGI, costumes, and scenery, it’s no wonder that Chinese historical dramas usually go viral on social media. Get all that eye candy by watching one of the following dramas.
1) Eternal Love

Yang Mi and Mark Chao star in Eternal Love, a 2017 Chinese xianxia drama that became an ultimate classic.
It’s about a love story that spans over three lifetimes. The first lifetime is between teacher and disciple, Si Yin and Mo Yuan. The second lifetime is with Su Su and Ye Hua. The third lifetime is with Bai Qian and Ye Hua.
It sounds complicated, but it’s easy to follow when you watch this.
For good reason, Eternal Love is often on the must-watch list of Chinese shows. The cinematography, storyline, acting, and original music soundtrack will blow you away.
58 episodes is a bit long for a TV show, but that was the norm before the episode count went down. There’s a movie version to binge instead, but the TV version is superior. The leading actors are changed, and in the TV version, there’s more time to flesh out the characters and the plot.
2) Love Between Fairy and Devil
The kind-hearted and innocent fairy, Xiao Lan Hua, accidentally saves the all-powerful devil that has been locked up for thousands of years, Dong Fang Qing Cang. Love blooms when they are forced to stay together.
It’s a domineering CEO who falls for a good-girl-type story, but in ancient times.
The actor, Dylan Wang, who played Dong Fang Qing Cang, was at his peak with this character. He deserves a standing ovation because he went from being widely ridiculed for his acting skills to being praised. He has come a long way as an actor since his debut drama, Meteor Garden.
Esther Yu was born to be Xiao Lan Hua, although her cutesy voice is grating to people.
The stars aligned with this drama with the casting choices, storyline, chemistry, and acting. If one element were missing, the drama wouldn’t have been as successful as it was.
Love Between Fairy and Devil is one of the best Chinese dramas on Netflix. It’s also a personal favourite, so I highly recommend it!
3) The Untamed

It’s about two disciples, Wei Wu Xuan and Lan Wang Ji, from different cultivating clans who form a close relationship. Sixteen years later, Wei Wu Xuan comes back, and they reunite. What happens when they work together to solve mysteries?
The Untamed started the booming BL (boys’ love) trend in China. Thanks to this 2019 show, Wang Yi Bo and Xiao Zhan became among the highest-paid TV actors today.
They have an intense CP fandom, just like Yu Shu Xin and Wang He Di. Fans are still rooting for these two seemingly straight guys despite them showing no homosexual tendencies in the past.
A word of caution if you’re watching this for romance: this is a Chinese drama, so the romance scenes will be less explicit than in some other countries, mainly because it is a BL.
4) Blossom
In Blossom, Dou Zhao’s husband betrayed her. She runs away and meets Song Mo. When they are killed, she goes back in time with her memories. How will she choose differently when she’s given another shot at life?
This concept is familiar in Chinese dramas, as many main characters are often given a second chance in life.
This 2024 drama surprised people by blowing up in popularity. Although Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui have been in the industry for a while, they became more recognized because of this show.
The chemistry between them is sizzling on screen. This pairing has become so popular that people root for them to be together in real life. Apparently, fans have found evidence too, but these two have yet to confirm their real-life relationship.
The word ‘blossom’ seems to be lucky for Chinese dramas. Dramas like In Blossom, Blossoms in Adversity, and The Blossoming Love also did pretty well. Now, you can also add Blossom to the list.
5) Pursuit of Jade
This 2026 drama was the talk of the town when it aired, starring Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei. There was already a high anticipation build-up before because people liked their visual chemistry. Turns out, their onscreen chemistry is just as strong.
Zhang Ling He is a male celebrity whom investors are banking on to succeed because of his spectacular looks, his 190cm height, being a top student, and gentle demeanour. He has all the ingredients to be China’s next top star. While his dramas were successful to some degree, this drama blew him up. If he can continue this momentum, he is a guaranteed success.
Tian Xi Wei, on the other hand, is equally beautiful, and she also has the acting skills to back it up. She might have the sweet and gentle look to her, but, boy, was I blown away when her fierce and protective side showed up in scenes.
With magnetic chemistry and almost flawless acting (Zhang Ling He still has work to do), the cherry on top was the production aesthetic. The director made great use of lighting and knew exactly which angles to film to make the actors look breathtaking.
If I had to say one thing I didn’t like about Pursuit of Jade, it was that I can’t get enough scenes of the two leads together! We need more, and I hope there is enough demand for the two of them to partner up again. The chance is low, though, because their managers are known to hate each other. In the meantime, let’s stay in the fantasy world and watch this show again.
6) Lost You Forever

The main female lead is Yang Zi, one of the most popular Chinese actresses. She has an eye for scripts. She pretty much has a hit TV show every year.
In Lost You Forever, she is Xiao Yao. Xiao Yao was separated from her family when she was younger and morphed into a man. This is her story with 4 love interests: a childhood sweetheart, the nice guy, the bad boy, and the oblivious one all fight for her affection.
What stands out about this show is that the lead characters aren’t so black-and-white. It’s not a stereotypical good-girl character type of show.
Lost You Forever became one of the most-watched shows in China in 2023 and 2024, and it’s not hard to understand why!

Best Chinese Dramas on Netflix – Modern
7) Put Your Head on My Shoulder

In this university love story, the cheerful female lead, Si Tu Mo, meets the genius Gu Wei Yi, and they end up living together.
This drama was an unexpected hit among the public for its light-heartedness. It will have you cooing for the lead couple.
A standout scene was when Gu Wei Yi tried to confess to Si Tu Mo using equations. It was a hilarious attempt and made me chuckle. I still think about that scene even though this show aired in 2019.
8) Love 020
Love 020 is a love story centred on video games. Bei Wei and Xiao Nai are both beautiful and intelligent at their university. They are at the top of their fields and get to know each other online before their romance moves off-screen.
This might not be everyone’s cup of tea because there are quite a few scenes about gaming. But people stuck it out with the leads’ chemistry, storyline, and stunning visuals.
The movie version is also available on Netflix for those who enjoy TV series.
9) A Love So Beautiful

A Love So Beautiful has Shen Yue, the same female lead as Meteor Garden. In her debut drama as a lead actress, she is paired with Hu Yi Tian.
Shen Yue plays the bright and optimistic Chen Xiao Xi. She has a one-sided love for Jiang Chen, her smart, intelligent, handsome, and cold next-door neighbour.
Yes, I know the plot alone doesn’t sound that interesting. It’s been played dozens of times, like the drama It Started with a Kiss. However, Shen Yue does a terrific job of pulling off Chen Xiao Xi to the point where she is her character.
Usually, the male actor stands out, but Shen Yue shines in her role as Chen Xiao Xi. She’s that good.
There’s even a Korean version of this drama on Netflix, but the Chinese version is much better.
10) Hidden Love

Zhao Lu Si is quite a popular actress, and several of her dramas air on Netflix.
This must-watch drama, Hidden Love, is an absolute gem you won’t want to miss. Zhao Lu Si plays Sang Zhi, a girl who falls in love with her older brother’s best friend, Duan Jia Xu.
Sang Zhi loves her man fiercely (I mean, who wouldn’t?) and will stand by his side through thick and thin, while Duan Jia Xu is perfect boyfriend material.
This drama is like a Wattpad story coming to life.
This youth drama is full of sweetness that will carry you through all 25 episodes.
It’s the perfect show to watch on a weekend, since it’s not as long as some of the other Chinese dramas on the list. Plus, it will have you squealing like a pig if you’re a huge romantic at heart.
Another one of my personal favourites, and for sure, one of the best modern Chinese dramas on Netflix.
11) The First Frost
Following the successful run of the show Hidden Love, an indirect sequel, The First Frost, aired in 2025. This time, the focus is on Sang Zhi’s brother, Sang Yan and the girl he has always loved since high school, Wen Yi Fan.
In this drama, Bai Jing Ting is Sang Yan, and Zhang Ruo Nan is Wen Yi Fan. Unfortunately, none of the main characters from Hidden Love make an appearance. All the actors have changed in The First Frost, including the actor who played Sang Yan in Hidden Love (Victor Ma; we miss you, but I can see why production insists on switching another actor for The First Frost).
Hidden Love still tops my list of contemporary Chinese dramas. Nothing beats Chen Zhe Yuan as Duan Jia Xu. However, if you want to get lost in the same universe, give it a go. The show is highly rated for a reason.
12) When I Fly Towards You

The author, Zhu Yi, wrote “When I Fly Towards You” and “Hidden Love”.
There are a few similarities, and while Hidden Love is the bigger drama, When I Fly Towards You has its own charm.
It’s about Su Zai Zai, a bright and bubbly girl, falling for Zhang Lu Rang, a quiet and introverted guy.
The chemistry between the two is palpable and will make you root for them till the end.
The drama spans their high school days through adulthood, and it makes you feel attached to the characters. When the show ended, there was a bit of an empty feeling inside of me. That’s when I know it’s a good TV drama.
People tend to talk about A Love So Beautiful when it comes to school dramas. Although that’s a great show, more people deserve to know about this drama!
How Much Does Netflix Cost?
Netflix has increased its price in recent years. Currently, in 2026, the prices for the three plans per month are the following:
Basic – 78 HKD
Standard – 98 HKD
Premium – HKD 118
The main difference among the three plans is the number of devices you can watch simultaneously and the show quality (HD, Full, and Ultra HD).
I understand the hesitation with getting a Netflix subscription because it costs money.
The lack of ads is the main reason people choose a subscription. In addition, as each episode ends, the platform automatically moves to the next. You don’t even have to move your fingers, which is perfect for people like me.
