Since people are getting confused about my blog name meaning, I wanted to make a page to explain why I named my website, Watercolour Marks.
Sorry to disappoint people who think my website is an art blog dealing with watercolours. It’s a lifestyle blog!
Blog Name Meaning – Symbolism
It took me a really long time to come up with a blog name. Honestly, it’s a big commitment, right?
You have to pick the PERFECT name because it represents you and your blog. I toyed with the idea of naming my blog something straightforward like ‘Nicole’s Blog.’ People would know that it’s a blog right away but I wanted a deeper meaning.
I noticed that there are many companies where the service they provide has zero connection to their name. At least in the beginning. It’s only when you dig deep that you understand their name.
I liked the concept. A lot. It was important for me to have a symbolic blog name, where the connection might not be obvious right away.
I’ve always appreciated art (although I’m not good at it myself). Watercolour is an art form that especially stood out.
You first dip your paintbrush in colour.
Then, when your brush touches the paper, the colour spreads out because watercolours are not completely controllable. It does its own thing and you watch the magic happen.
Life is the same. Everyone has all these plans in life (in one way or another) but you can’t completely control every aspect of your life. You need to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
You then continue to add colours to the piece of paper to create a finished product.
When a person is born, their life is a blank slate like a piece of paper. As he/she grows older and experience life, colours are added to his/her life.
When the combination of colours blends together, it leaves a unique mark and creates something beautiful.
Everyone has a different watercolour mark and is special in his or her own way.
I hope this clears up my blog name meaning!
Logo Explanation

I truly wanted a logo that would reflect me so I was quite careful with the details.
If you know me in real life, my hair is always up in a ponytail. This is my go-to look every day because it’s a low-maintenance hairstyle that gets the job done.
I tend to use red ribbon hair ties. It adds a pop of colour against my black hair.
I also wear neutral colours a lot. Nine out of ten times, I will be wearing either blue, black, grey, or beige. I’ll wear other coloured clothing once in a while but my wardrobe consists of mainly those few colours.
The flowers at the bottom represent my girly personality. You might not be able to tell at first glance that I’m girly but I love bags, perfumes, and skirts. Adding flowers to the logo would be another part that represents me.
They also add a nice touch to the logo visually, don’t cha think?
