When you think of preloved luxury, you might think of worn-out clothes, bags, and accessories, but that’s not the case.
There are so many preloved items out there that have been well cared for, you can’t even tell they’re secondhand.
More people are starting to see the pros of shopping preloved. The main reason is that it’s cheaper than the full retail price. Another reason to turn to the preloved market is to find collectibles or vintage items.
But when it comes to pre-owned luxury, you need to be careful where you shop. Many fakes are out there, and they’re getting smarter about making them.
In this blog post, I’ll explore websites and local stores in Hong Kong to find preloved authentic designer items.
Let’s get started!
Websites – SecondHand Luxury Bags in Hong Kong
Vestiaire Collective
Vestiaire Collective is the biggest platform on this list and one of my absolute favourite websites worldwide.
I have extensive experience buying and selling on this company’s platform, as it’s my number one go-to for pre-loved items.
Not only are most luxury items heavily discounted, but you can get an even further discount if you’re patient. For example, during the holidays, the website gives members coupon codes to encourage purchases. Discount codes sometimes also drop out of nowhere.
Tens of thousands of items, including jewellery, watches, shoes, handbags, and clothes, are added to the website daily, so there’s always something new to see.
Vestiaire also has a cool feature that lets you negotiate the price with the seller. Take advantage of these opportunities to score the best deal ever.
Think about all that money you saved after negotiating AND applying a discount code!
The seller will then send your purchased item to the nearest Vestiare global office for authentication and quality checks. The process might take longer than shipping directly to your place (it is an option for some products), but if you’re spending a significant amount of money, isn’t it worthwhile to wait a few more days for reassurance that it’s not a fake?
Fashionphile
FashionPhile is another big name in the pre-loved industry.
It is based in California and has been around since 1999.
This website emphasizes Louis Vuitton and Chanel but offers other premium brands, such as Prada, Valentino, Celine, Bottega Veneta, and Goyard.
Although Chanel has significantly increased its prices over the years, people still love this brand. Although its popularity may have declined for some, it’s still one of the most demanded luxury brands.
Fashionphile isn’t the cheapest preloved luxury website, but Chanel lovers won’t want to miss out on this designer resale website.
If price isn’t the reason people flock to this website, what is?
One of the best things about Fashionphile is that they often overstate their flaws.
For example, the description might say that this Chanel bag has some scratches on the hardware, which are considered imperfections. When you buy the bag and receive it in the mail, you’ll realize some of these are so minor that you would miss them if not for the detailed product description.
This is a great marketing technique because Fashionphile is now known for this and has high customer satisfaction.
You will also be impressed by the many photos they provide for each item. Professional pictures from different angles are included, including one of a bag on a mannequin.
A seller might tell you the dimensions, but if you’re like me, you need a ruler or tape measure to determine the bag’s actual size.
With one glance, the mannequin photo tells you how big the purse will look on a person’s body.
The Luxury Closet
Founded in 2011, The Luxury Closet is located in Dubai but ships globally.
There is a wide selection of inventory from brands such as Gucci, Saint Laurent, Goyard, Rolex, and Cartier.
When you see a bag or accessory you like, submit your price offer to the seller. They will then decide whether to accept it.
It’s similar to Vestiaire Collective.
If the seller doesn’t accept your price offer, try again later.
Favourite the item to keep track of price markdowns. The longer an item is in their inventory, the heavier the discount. You can submit another price offer when the item is within your budget.
It’s a waiting game, but be mindful that someone else might snatch up the item in the meantime.
The RealReal
The RealReal is another company that is always mentioned in the pre-loved luxury community. It is based in the United States and has millions of active members on the platform.
The first step is to become a member of The RealReal. You must register to browse the products on their website.
A team of experts authenticates the products, making it a safe and reliable platform for purchasing pre-owned designer goods.
There are even physical stores in New York and Los Angeles for those who want to visit in person if they’re in the US.
Rebag
Rebag might not be as famous as other pre-owned websites on this list. However, it’s worth noting for its vast selection of secondhand luxury bags.
As the rise of designer resale platforms continues, Rebag could become one of the leading online platforms for preloved goods.
The products undergo a rigorous process and cost about a fraction of the retail price. For incredible deals, be sure to check out this underrated website.
Farfetch Pre-Owned
You may have heard of Farfetch, a global fashion website with over 1,000 brands. Most people visit Farfetch for luxury fashion and accessories, but did you know they have a pre-owned section on their website?
This section mainly sells pre-loved bags, but it also offers pre-loved clothes, accessories, and jewellery. The preloved section has more secondhand luxury bags than you think, so you’ll for sure find something you like there.
eBay
eBay might not be many people’s first choice when shopping for preloved items.
However, if you do your research carefully, there is no need to write off eBay completely.
They now have a dedicated section called the Authenticity Guaranteed page. The process is similar to Vestiaire’s, where the product is first sent to an expert for a quality check before it reaches its new home. There’s no extra fee to pay either!
But what if the handbag you want isn’t on there and is just on a regular eBay page?
The next best thing is to look only at high-volume, reputable Japanese sellers.
With other platforms, paying as much attention to seller ratings isn’t as crucial since a) the item will be sent to a team of professionals to verify the authenticity, or b) the item is sent directly from the company’s warehouse.
When you buy from a regular eBay seller, the item is sent directly to your address.
It makes the transaction riskier, so check the seller’s location and profile.
Does the seller have thousands of ratings?
Does the seller have a high score?
If the answer is no to either of those questions, don’t even bother to continue looking.
Shopping from eBay is probably the riskiest of all the options – not going to lie.
However, people have successfully bought authentic designer items from eBay before, which is why the website is on this list.
Carousell
Carousell is like a local eBay for Hong Kongers.
You can meet the seller in person or ask the seller to send the item to your location.
Meeting up is the best option because you can feel the product in person and see if anything is missing from the pictures. Again, look out for the seller’s reviews and ratings; you don’t want to be scammed.
Carousell has two types of sellers: individual and professional.
Individual sellers can be risky because it is impossible to verify whether they are selling counterfeit items. Anyone can create a listing and sell secondhand luxury bags.
Professional sellers have been on Carousell for a long time, and their profiles have hundreds or thousands of reviews. They might even have their own website, but use Carousell to attract more people. More eyes mean it’s more likely someone will buy from them.

Local – SecondHand Luxury Bags in Hong Kong
The following section discusses brick-and-mortar stores in Hong Kong. Although online websites can reach a global audience, some people prefer in-person shopping so they can feel and examine the product.
There is obviously a concern that the products at these stores are fake. I have bought from or sold to most of these stores in Hong Kong so that I can vouch for them.
Milan Station
Milan Station is the most popular local preloved luxury shop in Hong Kong.
If you ask people on the street where to buy pre-loved bags in Hong Kong, many will, unsurprisingly, say Milan Station. There are Milan Station stores all over the city.
This widely recognized chain is a publicly listed company in Hong Kong, providing strong reassurance that the products in its stores are not fake.
Luxholic
Luxholic is located in Tsim Sha Tsui. This preloved store is popular among the Hong Kong preloved community, with more than 70K Instagram followers.
Luxholic has a website where most customers receive updates and make purchases. The company has two separate Instagram accounts, both under the Luxholic brand.
The official Luxholic.HK account sells Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Hermes products.
Their other account, petiteslux.HK offers a range of brands, including Celine, Gucci, Christian Dior, Fendi, Chloe, Balenciaga, and Loewe.
If you want to see their bags and accessories in person, the store is open Monday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Brand Off
Brand Off is from Tokyo, Japan, but has since opened stores in Hong Kong.
Japan is known for selling secondhand luxury bags, and Hong Kongers are big fans of designer items. So, it’s unsurprising that Brand Off appeared in this city.
Their website has descriptive photos of each product from different angles. There is even a grading system to indicate an item’s newness to potential customers.
The best part is that the company is transparent about which Brand-off store the item is currently in. If you’d like to see the product in person, you can request to preview it at a brand-off store of your choice at no additional cost. This feature is very attractive to those who are choosy about preloved items.
Obsess Planet
Obsess Planet is also from Japan but has international locations in Hong Kong, Portugal, and Toronto.
The Obsess Planet store in Mong Kok has a less-than-nice interior (the other locations are better). It doesn’t scream luxury, but some people don’t care. They’re more focused on finding good deals, and Obsess Planet fits the bill.
Most of the products on their website have pictures, but some don’t. Purchasing a preloved item unthinkingly without a description and a few photos is difficult.
When shopping from Obsess Planet, it’s better to visit their store in person for a closer look.
Belluxe
Belluxe is a shop in Causeway Bay that is one of my favourite websites for cheap luxury.
The staff provides impeccable service and is also on point with the website listings. This store ensures that every product in its inventory is listed on its website.
The company takes pictures from all sorts of angles, including mod shots. This means there is a picture of a person carrying the bag, in case customers want a visual of how large the item will look next to a human body.
Belluxe is really going for the luxurious feel. They made renovations, and it feels more high-class than before.
This place is also quite busy. Despite its small size, there are always other customers inside. Boxes are stacked everywhere, so you know there is no shortage of inventory to browse.
The only downside about Belluxe is that getting inside might be more difficult than visiting other preloved stores.
You have to ring the store so they can open the gated door for you. Introverts and people who are socially anxious might be more hesitant to do this. However, people might be walking in and out of the building, and you can also get in that way.
Honourable Mentions – SecondHand Luxury Bags in Hong Kong
There are so many local preloved luxury stores in Hong Kong. I have minimal experience with many of them from a buyer’s or seller’s perspective, but the following have decent social media followings. These are ones I have heard of that sell authentic used designer items, so I put them in the honourable mention section.
Tips on Buying Second-Hand Luxury Bags in Hong Kong
1) My best tip is to follow their social media handles closely when shopping at local preloved stores.
Many have websites, but they often don’t reflect their entire inventory and aren’t up to date. These stores usually have flash sales, and customers will snatch up the product on Instagram so fast that the store hasn’t even had time to add it to the website listing.
If you don’t follow their Facebook or Instagram closely, you could miss out on many good deals and your ideal bag.
2) Check the description box, details, and photos carefully. Zoom in on the images for flaws and reread the description to make sure you’re buying exactly what you’re getting, especially if you’re purchasing online.
Even if you shop in person, preloved stores in Hong Kong don’t offer refunds, so take your time to be sure about a particular product and its imperfections.
3) Something familiar between the secondhand luxury bag stores in Hong Kong is that they often give an item a newness percentage. The higher the percentage, the more pristine the item is. For example, if there is a gold leather Chanel double flap bag with a 90% rating, you can expect this classic flap shoulder bag to be in much better condition than if it had a 70% rating.
4) There are such things as super fakes now, which means it’s tough to tell which one is real. Companies are becoming experts at producing counterfeit items, and that’s pretty scary. Do your research and know the difference between authentic and fake items. You wouldn’t want to pay an exorbitant amount of money for something to find out it’s a fake!
Final Thoughts – SecondHand Luxury Bags in Hong Kong
These designer resale stores are terrific options for those who want to buy luxury at a discount. Whether you prefer shopping online, as with Vestiaire Collective, or in a physical store, there is no shortage of options.
Whether you’re eyeing a classic designer bag or a limited-edition purse, these preloved platforms have it all.
I can almost guarantee that the bag you’re looking for will eventually appear. You have to be patient and act quickly. People love good deals, so if they see one, they’ll want to snatch it up quickly, just like you.
When you find your perfect item on a designer resale website, you can click a couple of buttons, and it’s yours!
So, what are you waiting for?
Check out these secondhand luxury stores in Hong Kong and go treasure-hunting for the perfect addition to your wardrobe!
