It’s officially a new year, which means this post is about my personal goals for 2022.
Happy New Year, everyone!
A year certainly went by fast. I felt like it was only a short while since I wrote my 2021 New Year’s blog post but it’s already time to write another one.
I don’t know if I’ll ever stop saying this but it truly feels as if time hasn’t slowed down. It’s only going faster as I get older. I’m already 26 years old. What is that?!
Reflecting on 2021 Goals
Last week, I talked about my 2021 annual reflection so I’m going to keep this section relatively short.
I somewhat accomplished my 2021 goals.
For the last few months of the year, I was bad at doing my dance workout routines. There’s no excuse but I somewhat can justify it by saying that I walked a lot more in 2021 than in 2020.
At the same time, it’s kind of cheating because we all mostly stayed home in 2020.
I could have done better but I’m not too worried because I was able to lose the quarantine weight I gained.
Thank god too! I felt icky and bloated all the time.
My other goal was to post consistently every week. I am proud to say that I have achieved this!
Posting every week had its challenges. There were many times when I was close to breaking the promise but I pulled through.
It’s a pity that I couldn’t complete both of my goals but I’m happy that I can at least say I did one of them.
I didn’t know if that was possible, to be honest. But now I have even more goals for 2022.
Personal Goals for 2022 (Blog)
1) Having Extra Posts on Hand
I would like to keep my 2021 goal of posting every week but to challenge myself one step further, I want to finish an extra post in advance.
Last year, there were times when I didn’t feel like writing at all.
I pushed myself to keep going but when you do that, some blog posts weren’t as good. Mainly because I didn’t put as much effort in. You guys can probably tell which ones I’m talking about, right?
I wanted to take a break but I couldn’t afford to. I was bound to my promise.
This year, I want to have extra blog posts on hand so I can take a short rest from my blog if I choose to for that week.
I’m not about to start missing my weekly posting schedule now. On the other hand, I have to be mindful of putting in more work.
I want to avoid blogger burnout so I think this will work out well.
2) Being a Better Planner
Another goal is to plan my content one month in advance instead of figuring out what to write the week of.
At the start of each month, I spend some free time thinking about what my posting schedule will look like for the next four weeks.
There will be flexibility in case something comes up or if I decide I want to write about a certain topic more.
I can always change it but it’s better than trying to figure out what to write about in the same week.
It’s less rushed and I don’t have to worry about looking for inspiration.

2) Writing About Different Topics
In 2021, I slowly expanded and wrote about a variety of topics. This process happened naturally because of what was going on in my life.
For example, I got LASIK eye surgery, was fascinated with floral perfumes, and even started buying designer goods at the pre-loved platform, Vestiaire Collective!
There might be extra topics that will come up naturally but there are two particular areas I would like to focus more on for this year.
a) Travel Category
Since travelling is out of the question right now with the strict quarantine requirements in Hong Kong, I would love to write more about day trips in Hong Kong.
I had a lot of fun talking about my experience going to Hong Kong Disneyland or Tai O Fishing Village.
As you may be able to tell, most of my blog posts are under ‘lifestyle.’
I try to alternate writing for each blog category so it’s somewhat balanced but I almost always write about lifestyle posts.
It would great to fill up my travel section.
This section seems so empty compared to the rest. I have low hopes in thinking that I’ll travel this year but we will see.
b) Drama Reviews
2021 wasn’t a good year for dramas.
My Love and Redemption Drama Review is my most popular and well-received post.
I was waiting for an opportunity to write another drama review post but there weren’t any dramas that held my attention.
There were a few I got excited for but then lost interest halfway through the series.
How can I write a proper drama review if I can’t even sit through the whole thing? I wouldn’t do it justice because I wouldn’t be able to write a detailed post.
According to the Instagram accounts I follow, 2022 seems promising for my top Chinese drama genres, which are fantasy and historical.
If I can find a drama that I like enough to write a review this upcoming year, I would be extremely happy
(update: I wrote two drama reviews this year already: The Oath of Love and My Sassy Princess) .
3) Gaining More Traffic in 2022
This one is pretty straightforward. Gaining more traffic is every blogger’s dream, including mine.
My views have slowly increased over the months. I will continue to work hard to promote my blog so that views can continue to increase.
How will I gain more traffic?
I will pick two platforms where I spend most of my time promoting my blog and it’s Facebook and Pinterest.
There were a few other platforms I considered but I wanted to narrow them down.
This way, I can truly focus on the two platforms. Quality over quantity. Spreading myself too thin won’t help.
I’ll also continue to write SEO-friendly articles.
Most people rely on search engines like Google to find the information they want so ranking high on search engines will help with website views.
4) Joining More Affiliate Programs in 2022
The reason I put this last for my blog-related goal section is because I plan to join more affiliate programs once I gain more traffic.
I am an affiliate for the preloved designer platform, Vestiaire Collective for several months now.
While I will continue to partner up with Vestiaire, I wanted to join other affiliate programs. However, I never went through with it because I didn’t have enough traffic.
This is my logic.
If someone new reads my blog, they probably won’t click on my affiliate link right away.
It’s through time and building trust between me and my readers. They then might feel more comfortable using one of my links to buy something.
With increased traffic, I will have a wider audience and be more likely to make affiliate income. In the meantime, I can browse programs to see which ones I will be interested in joining.
I will be an affiliate only for brands that I genuinely buy from and can recommend to people. Otherwise, I feel like I’m a fraud and that’s not what I want.
Personal Goals for 2022 (Life)
Most of my 2022 goals are about my blog but I have a few personal ones as well.
1) Buy Fewer Snacks to Keep at Home
I have never been the type to keep snacks at home because I will bored eat.
Some people can keep their snacks for months but I don’t know how they do it. I’m the type to eat them NOW. It’s a bad habit, I know.
I think it’s especially hard for me because I grew up with parents that love to snack. In fact, my whole family loves food.
So I avoid buying snacks at home so I won’t be tempted.
I have to be careful because I’m not in charge of groceries now that I have moved back home.
But my mom generally doesn’t buy good snacks anyway so I think it will be okay. As long as I’M not the one buying them in 2022.
2) Meeting More People (Be More Social)
In your 20s, a lot of your life is about going to hang out with friends.
Meeting new people.
Answering some uncomfortable questions.
There’s something about your twenties that bonds you together. It’s a confusing time for a lot of people.
Most of my friends have been in my life for so long that making friends is a bit of a foreign concept.
For some reason, when it comes to meeting new friends, I always think about drinking. I heard you can become BFFs with someone through drinking. At least temporarily.
I’m not much of a drinker so that is out of the question.
I know there are many other ways of making friends but I need some time to think about how to go about it.
In 2022, I want to be more open about meeting new people.
If some of those relationships can turn into close friendships, then I have more close friends. If that doesn’t happen, it’s also not the end of the world.
