Cheap luxury bags might sound ironic but it IS possible to get amazing deals on designer handbags.
Where?
Preloved Designer Platforms.
Ever since I dove deep into the preowned luxury world, I can’t seem to get back out (and have no intentions to).
There are many reasons why you should buy preloved (a lower price being the most important one).
The main issue people seem to have with pre-owned items is that they think the items on sale will be too worn out. Although some of them are, there are plenty of second-hand items that are in almost mint condition.
People generally go to great lengths to properly take care of their handbags since they might consider designer bags as an investment.
You take care of your bags and they can last for YEARS.
This blog post will be talking about the best websites to shop for cheap luxury bags.
I made sure that the websites here have the following:
- A large catalogue of items
- Personal Experience (either through buying or selling)
- Worldwide Shipping
For those who live outside the U.S., you’ll know the pain when you go online shopping for them to inform you that they only ship within the country.
So I wanted to make sure people who read this blog post can buy from these online boutiques basically anywhere worldwide.
Cheap Luxury Bags Website #1 – Vestiaire Collective
First up is Vestiaire Collective, a platform I have experience with buying and selling.
I love this company so much that it’s my number one go-to pre-loved platform.
The company was founded in 2009 with its headquarters in Paris, France.
Anyone can buy and sell on this website.
It’s super neat.
A seller takes a few photos of the item they want to sell. The Vestiaire team makes sure the photos are sufficient and boom. Your item goes on sale live to millions of potential buyers.
Depending on the seller, you can even negotiate prices. You can also talk to them directly via chat.
The catch is to not break the rules. The Vestiaire staff does monitor your chats (primarily so that buyers and sellers are not arranging any transactions outside the platform).
Worried that you’ll buy a counterfeit item?
Vestiaire understands so when you purchase an item, it goes through a verification process (although sometimes, you can skip the step and go with the direct shipping option).
The seller sends the item to a Vestiaire office (Vestiaire pays for shipping). The Vestiaire team makes sure the item isn’t counterfeit and that the item is described as what the seller says. Once that’s checked, the shipping department ships the item to you.
It’s how I got my small black Gucci Soho Disco crossbody bag, something I wanted for years.
Vestiaire has a large catalogue for cheap luxury bags but there are also shoes, clothes, jewellery, and more.
The company adds thousands of items to their website every day so you never have to worry about not having enough things to look at.
The selection can almost be too overwhelming. Start by filtering out the brand you like (such as Saint Laurent or Christian Dior) and go from there.
I wrote a guide to Vestiaire Collective blog post if you want to read more about how to navigate the website.

2) FashionPhile
FashionPhile is another big name in the pre-loved industry.
It is based in California and has been around since 1999.
Just like any other company, there are pros and cons.
I am most impressed with the many photos they provide for one item.
The website has professional photos with different angles, including a photo with a bag on a mannequin.
A seller might tell you the dimensions but if you’re like me, you need a ruler or measurement tape to figure out how big the actual bag is.
For example, if you’re looking at a crossbody bag, the mannequin photo tells you with one glance how big the purse will look on a person’s body (this is the same case for shoulder bags, tote bags, etc).
There is a variety of luxury brands but there are quite a lot of Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags.
Those who are fans of the following two premium brands, you’re not going to want to miss out on Fashionphile.
For U.S. buyers – you’re in luck because the company provides free shipping within the U.S.
Unfortunately for international buyers, you’re going to have to pay a shipping fee.
You’ll also notice that the company has a high customer satisfaction rating. They are known to overstate flaws.
People can be sensitive to purchasing preloved luxury items. By making you think the item is in worse condition than it actually is, it will likely surprise you in a good way.
I have written a detailed Fashionphile review on my blog if you’re interested to know more details about the platform.
3) The Luxury Closet
Once you’re familiar with the pre-owned designer goods world, you’ll realize you tend to hear the same names over again. You’ve probably heard of the resale platform, The Luxury Closet.
They are based in Dubai.
Since I’ve sold several items with The Luxury Closet, I can tell you this as a seller.
You have some control of the pricing.
With Fashionphile, they are likely to buy your item outright and set the prices themselves. The Luxury Closet is by consignment so you will only get paid once the item is sold.
For example, if you wish to sell a Prada shoulder bag fast, you can lower the price. People are more likely to buy your item if it’s in good condition and at a good price.
One of the great things about The Luxury Closet is that they tell you how much an item costs at retail price. You compare it to how much the company is selling an item for.
You’ll then see what a fantastic deal you’re getting.
With a quick glance, you can see how much money you are saving. It’s a smart tactic to entice their customers.
Like other websites, you can browse their catalogue to see what kind of bags and brands they have.
4) eBay
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Aren’t cheap luxury bags on eBay fake?
Yes, there might be some fakes on eBay but if you shop carefully, you can find some wonderful deals.
When it comes to buying designer bags on eBay, I recommend looking only at Japanese resellers.
The best way to avoid purchasing knockoffs on eBay is to pay close attention to high volume, reputable Japanese sellers.
With other platforms, it isn’t necessary to pay as much attention to seller ratings since a) the item will be sent to a team of professionals to verify the authenticity or b) the item is sent directly from the company warehouse.
On eBay, the seller will send the item directly to your address.
It makes the transaction riskier so check their location (Japan) and their selling rating.
Does the seller have thousands of ratings?
Does the seller have a high score?
If the answer is no to either of those questions, you shouldn’t even bother to continue looking.
Shopping from eBay is probably the riskiest out of all of the options – not going to lie.
But people have successfully bought authentic designer items from eBay before, which is why I’m not totally disregarding the website.
Cheap Luxury Bags Website #5 – StockX (Bonus)
You might have heard of StockX for their sneaker selection but they also sell designer bags, shoes, accessories and unique toys.
StockX is a little different than the other websites because it doesn’t sell preloved goods. The items there on all brand new.
It’s another great option for buying cheap luxury bags.
Buyers can see how much an item they want was sold for previously.
Depending on the item, you can straight out buy the item for the price the seller is asking for. Or you can make a bid hoping that a seller accepts it.
Just like Vestiaire Collective, the company has a team of professionals to check whether or not an item is fake.
In my StockX review, I talked about my experience with the company. The team informed me that my transaction wouldn’t pass through. They discovered the bag I bought from them didn’t pass through the authentication process.
It was unfortunate but I prefer that than to receive a fake designer bag.
I had a good experience with them and I’m sure many others did too.
StockX might be different than the other preloved luxury platforms but it’s still worth checking out.
Final Thoughts – Buying Cheap Luxury Bags
Although there are more online resale bag websites out there, these are ones I can vouch for when it comes to cheap luxury bags since I’ve had personal experience with them.
Some of you might have one specific bag you’re looking for.
Whether it’s a classic designer bag or a limited edition purse you’re eyeing, preloved platforms have it all.
You can browse these websites that sell cheap luxury bags.
I can almost guarantee that the bag you’re looking for will pop up eventually. You just have to be patient. And act fast. People love good deals so if they see one, they’ll want to snatch it up quickly just like you.
In the meantime, you can save up for luxury goods. When you do find your perfect item on a designer resale website, you can click a couple of buttons and it’s yours!
